How to use SideWiki Comments to your advantage.

Sidewiki comments are here to stay. Can you take advantage of visitor comments?

SideWiki Comments seem to have brought out the loud speakers and bullhorns of those that like to toot their own horn. Now that the horn's are quiet it is time to start talking about what you can do with the SideWiki Comment system to help your online company grow.

If you haven't monitored your site I would suggest you try the API developed by XtremeComputer.Com Technician Murray W. You will be surprised what a Field Technician can do with online applications.

You can find more information about the Xtreme Computer SideWiki Comment Monitoring System in our Forums.

Let's talk about all the negative comments and speculation behind the SideWiki Commenting system by Google.

1. Your website size is being forced smaller due to the sidebar from SideWiki.

1a. This might be true if you are not using a wide screen monitor and it's the user that can open and close the SideWiki comment window. It's not open 100% of the time on your website. Most sites are of a size that when the visitor uses a wide screen view nothing is lost from your site.

2. Not able to find SideWiki Comments.

2a. This is true for many webmasters and for those that are tracking by UserAgent I would guess by now you have had enough of the emails. If you haven't asked to try our branded SideWiki Comment Tracker or if you haven't developed your own system then you have nothing at all to say. The tools are out and it's up to you to use them. Free or Paid you can find tools to monitor SideWiki Comments.

3. Spam and Flaming Comments.

3a. While testing our monitoring system for SideWiki comments we noticed a IP block that quickly visited the same page we were commenting on. It was Googles Network and a Live person was reading the comment. I saw many of my test comments (during our network tracking test) just disappear. I even commented about how quick the Google Team was reading the comments. One even gave a thumbs up about our posts. But this doesn't mean that they will be able to keep up with the comments once this becomes popular. That's why it's still important to monitor your site or have it monitored. You can find our monitor information in the forums.

Of all the comments about SideWiki the 3 listed above are the main complaints about the system.

You can see with each I have a solution and it's letting someone tell you when a comment is posted. Unless you are going to give up on Web Mastering and just browse pages looking for comments.

Once you discover what we have discovered about how to use SideWiki you might start changing your mind.

Here's one thing that surprised me and thought it shouldn't be happening.

This article if commented on and linked to a Blog will be first in Googles Search Results because they seem to still index Blogs faster than back end pages or a website like this one. Even if we have an RSS feed and XML sitemaps we found most of our forum posts are indexed via some Blog but at least they point back to our site.

With the SideWiki you can create a Blog on Blogger comment on your pages and link it out to your Blog. This is one way to use the SideWiki Comment System for Good.

Drawback we have found is if there is a Blog linked to the SideWiki comment and the comment has been removed by the Google Team the Blog content is still online. I would guess Google will remove the index reference from search results if the comment was removed. But to this date I don't know if that has or will happen.

Check out our forums about the SideWiki Comment Monitor and don't be afraid of SideWiki be open to it but monitor things so you can stay on top of your website you worked so hard on.
