Remote Virus Scans and Remote Virus Removal.
Why most viruses enjoy these online scanning sites.
Remote virus scans can detect some viruses but most of the very damaging viruses will treat these scans like a back rub. Viruses can go for months undetected. Never think you are virus free if your surfing habits are widespread or you download anything free from ring tone software to toolbars for your printing.
From my experience simple active x scans from online websites that are in the antivirus business should rethink their marketing and look at all the fake download software on the market. People should be aware of who offers software and always use a link provided by someone that recommends software and not some free online scan link. Isn’t that how you got the virus in the first place? You downloaded the Cyborg Rootkit when you upgraded your firmware on your thingamajig?
Click and Forget.
Scan and if nothing is reported you must be safe, right?
Over the past week I have found more than 1,200 viruses on the computer systems I have worked on.
Today's markets for Spyware, Malware, Virus removal services are growing by Leaps and Bounds!
If I were to pick any occupation in the IT community I would pick "Master Virus Researcher" and then work part-time with the title: "Virus Removal Specialist".
Actually both of these titles match me completely.
I've always had computers setup online to attract and download viruses. How do you learn about viruses unless you actually get them.
Keeping up on the changes is time consuming and doesn't always work into the typical computer technicians day.
The Truth about Virus Removal is simple.
Online you can run scans to find the active location of the virus but the delivery package, registry, backups, restore files are still on your computer.
Now in English: Unless you know how to manually remove viruses you are only fooling yourself thinking online remote scans are the answer.
Typically it takes 30 to 60 minutes for me to manually remove all traces of the virus once I identify the "Delivery Package".
I do this by remote login which means I connect to your computer and work on your computer as if it were in my shop.
Once I determine the type of delivery I can remove the package and setup your system to run a local scan to remove or identify were the fragments of the virus is located.
Does this sound like something you can do while having your morning coffee?
I'll bet that it isn't.
Now, once you learn the Truth about Virus removal you need to learn how to strengthen your system to attract less viruses.
If I can setup a computer that tells viruses "I'm Here and Ready to be Infected. Give it your Best Shot!" then you would think I have a system that tells the Virus World "Ask yourself one question, Has a Xtreme Tech setup this system or not. (Make my Day)".
Stay tuned for the Second Round of Truth and your Anti Virus Program.
