Java Updates! Java Updates! Update your Sun Java! Error 25099, Unzipping core files failed. Do yourself a big favor this week and don't just put a reminder to update your Sun Java. Open the control panel and setup the automatic updates. But watch the video and learn what you need and what I wouldn't install.

Java Updates! Java Updates! Update your Sun Java!

You can setup your automatic updates from the control panel of your computer.

You might be wondering why I'm putting Java Script Updates in the Drive By Virus Section. You'll see clearly when I start posting the javascript exploits that have caused more computers to be infected just by visiting a simple website or from malware in advertisements.

Because Sun Java or Java.Com for many offers an automatic update to this free software application that is used by all it's very important that you update when updates are available.

Java version 6 update 21 when version 6 update 32 is out you might be setting yourself up for an exploit just around the corner or the next website click.

Today: 5-2012 It's update 32 so check in the control panel for your Sun Java settings and be sure to uncheck the Ask toolbar if you don't need more self-installed tracking software.

I'll repost my tests on Toolbars and Security later this month if I have time. It was interesting to see which toolbars shut down when SSL connections were made. Some did very well while others.. Well let's say they are recording and reporting. It's up to you to learn what you are installing before you install it.

Error 25099, Unzipping core files failed. Java

This is typically from a corrupted file download. The java script unzip or installation package is not over-writing the corrupted files and you will need to do the following to correct this issue.

When installing your Java Update you might encounter the following error:
Error 25099, Unzipping core files failed.

Start by ending the running processes.
You will find them by using task manager.
javaw.exe
jusched.exe

Open Explorer (right click start, left click explore)
Browse to the following folder location
C:\Program Files\Java\jre6

Instead of deleting or renaming all the files rename only the jre6 folder.

C:\Program Files\Java\jre6_backup

Run your Java script program again and it should recreate and install the update just fine.

Having problems updating your Sun Java?

I've found a few times that a bad registry entry could and does stop Java from updating at times. Not sure why the registry would be corrupted other than a virus attempted to change the java settings.

But, look here for something that just doesn't look right.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ `ji2w&&

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ `ji2w&&  the short of this is simple. JavaScript update corrupted and left this bad registry entry. We have deleted it with no sign of problems.

That's about it. If you know more or have seen this registry entry feel free to post your findings.
