Outlook to Android to Server and Back.
I have to admit the time I spend reading how to setup my corporate email and my personal email all in one server that sync's to my tablet takes about 30 minutes.
I have had to setup the accounts twice in 6 months.
That's 60 minutes I could have spent sleeping!
This post is going to be my settings and my systems because this is my reminder.
If you email me your settings and your systems I'll post them up here as your reminders.
First, Outlook is by2prd0410.outlook.com when you purchase the bundle online you get some screwy sub account.
Next, in your "Login field" it's always going to lead with a slash \ that's backwards.
Next certificates, ports and the rest.
Allow all certs, connect over SSL (Always a secured conection)
Allow this and allow that.
Allow remote WIPE!!
If you don't, your corporate IT person might not like you.
Not to worry, if your stolen tablet isn't password protected by the time you send a text to IT and they respond everything you had will be gone.
Now, I need my email server to retreive email from my corporate server so my alert system can send my flip phone a simple text mail.
If you are thinking that this all could be handled with a data plan on a smartphone you are correct. But, because I do more with servers and tablets than smartphones I find this to be the most cost effective method. I never pay for a data plan. I have SSL over unsecured wifi around town.
Go PirateRadio Fans!
Next, POP3 and IMAP = 993 for IMAP and 995 for POP3 with the outlook.com setup. I use IMAP because my email server does the links and pulls not my android.
Example: My corporate A account has a new email and I'm offline. My Smart Server sends my Not Smart Phone a text message (full) so I can preview the message. At that point I can let my mobile devices hunt for open WiFi or reply via simple text with my phone.
