FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BATON ROUGE, LA – November 6, 2009 – Imagine waking up one morning to find your Website has been trashed by graffiti posters or your competition with negative or malicious Google SideWiki Comments. Maybe someone attempting to divert browsers to personal blogs and inappropriate content used SideWiki to fill with your site with junk, or spammers packed it with useless information. Maybe you’ve been the victim of a hacker.

After successfully monitoring test sites over the last several weeks, Xtreme Computer announced today its new XCtM v1.0 Tracking and Monitoring service reported with 100 percent accuracy all Google SideWiki comments on all test pages, even malformed URLs and error pages. With the XCtM v1.0 application, every page on a Website can be monitored, and the site owner can be alerted to all comments posted.

According to Murray Wennerlund, developer of the XCTM v1.0 and founder of Xtreme Computer, “After someone downloads the Google toolbar, they can leave SideWiki comments outside the reach of the Website owner for others to read. It then becomes the site owner’s responsibility to maintain the integrity of their site, including any SideWiki comments on all pages of the site. Basically a Webmaster would have to browse all pages within a site with a Google toolbar to see if there are any comments.”

This type of Website supervision becomes extremely complicated because the Google tool associates the page with the specific Web address where the comment is located.

A home page could be listed as;

  • http://www.xtremecomputer.com/default.asp

Graffiti posters could even add additional items like a hashed URL or Query String to the same URLs making it nearly impossible for webmasters to monitor their websites.

To the site viewer, it would be the home page, but to SideWiki it is considered three different pages, so a Webmaster would have to monitor every possible URL for each of the pages in a Website, sometimes numbering into the thousands or more.

“That job would be like trying to view every piece of gain in a silo,” said Wennerlund. “If you're not a programmer, the task of monitoring would be overwhelming. One negative comment on a busy site can cost your business or credibility. Our XCtM monitor will check all possible URLs even malformed URLs which are used by some to circumvent several types of monitoring systems offered to date.

“When Webmasters place our small API into a common page of their website our system begins looking for comments made using SideWiki by Google.

Monitoring SideWiki Comments is more than just checking for useragents or probing website indexes or sitemaps. You have to know every page visited. Even error pages and malformed URLs require monitoring because Google SideWiki does not validate page status or response headers.”

Once a SideWiki comment is detected on a site, we make it easier for Webmasters by emailing only when comments are detected on a page and send a link to the specific page for viewing. As an added bonus, the XCtM v1.0 service can also alert them to hackers, spammers and reported graffiti posters.”

The XCtM v1.0 Tracking and Monitoring service detects SideWiki comments and can send notifications via email or directly to a mobile device. The application is even capable of sending the entire comment so Webmasters don’t even have to go to their Website to see what was posted and by whom.

“The result is peace of mind, even on unknown pages, malformed query strings or hashed URLs,” said Wennerlund. “This way Webmasters can deal with issues as soon as they arise.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BATON ROUGE, LA – October 19, 2009 – Xtreme Computer announced plans this week for free beta testing of their new automated SideWiki Comment Tracker monitoring system designed to help Web site owners monitor Google SideWiki comments.

Google SideWiki allows the public to post comments about sites in a side bar displayed in their web browser. These SideWikis can then be shared on blogs and social networking sites. Xtreme Computer Comment Tracker was developed as a way to notify company risk management and public relations staff when comments are made on their site, whether the site has 10 pages or 3 million. No matter how deep the site or how complicated the URL structure, the Xtreme Computer SideWiki Comment Tracker system can keep up with Web sites 24 hours a day.

Commercial Website owners with concerns about misuse of SideWiki by spammers prompted Xtreme Computer to develop the automated Comment Tracker. The most common fear with the new Google technology is comments made by users attempting to divert browsers to personal blogs and inappropriate content, competitors trying to ruin the reputation of a company or spammers filling sites with useless information or malicious comments.

"More and more webmasters are looking to opt-out of the SideWiki while others are looking at SideWiki as a new way of allowing the public to talk about your website, business or postings without joining the site,” said Murray Wennerlund, developer of Xtreme Computer. “With our new application programming interface, you can monitor every page on your Website and all the comments posted."

After subscribing to the service, every page of a Web site visited will be probed for SideWiki comments. The system will notify subscribers via email anytime a visitor leaves a comment.

To sign up for the service, visit www.xtremecomputer.com/agreement.asp, log in and request an API key.

With the drive to create new opportunities in the Technical Service Industries XtremeComputer.Com founder Murray W has release the "Technical Support for IT Professionals" networking service.

"I've seen independent technicians work better and smarter than most of your national service groups. But the major difference between the independent technician and the national chain service providers is the depth of knowledge."

Now with XtremeComputer.Com offering direct customer service in the Baton Rouge, LA. area and supporting out of state technicians when needed things are jumping at Xtreme Computer.

"It's time to bring back hometown quality and affordable service to the consumers. The High Priced always evolving computers have stagnated. Technologies are not growing as fast as they were 2 years ago. Prices are low for most all after market components and it's no longer a sales industry but a service industry.

Our efforts in supporting other technicians are more of a consultant role. When experiences overlap we are stronger than any national chain. When we have a link that is a little weaker than what we would like to see we as a group with assist the technician in the field and point them in the direction to complete the needed repairs.

It's more about Experience then Schooling or Certificates today. Sure school and Certificates are nice to have but if you don't have the hands on experience or the hours like some of our IT professionals you risk creating more problems.

Each of our groups technicians will be responsible for sharing experience that will help others. All are required to offer service rates competitive in our field and to offer the best in customer support.
