ThinkPad T61
Windows XP Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

HP4240n printer.

I would like to print in a more economical mode to preserve my toner cartridge when printing documents for review purposes only. There is an optional check box for "Econo Mode," but what is my most economical method of the following available options? Do I combine one of these with "Econo Mode?"

FastRes 1200
600 dpi
ProRes 1200 (180 lpi)
ProRes 1200 (141 lpi)

Most printers offer Draft mode.
You might notice numbers followed by dpi.
DPI = Dots Per Inch.

When you need to review a document it's best to do a Print Preview which doesn't require printing.

If you need to send your document to others for review and it is possible to email them then you save more by not printing and only emailing the draft.

But if you need to print a draft for review then the best method is to use Draft mode or the lowest DPI number.

There is also features to not print the colors and backgrounds.
If you have images in your document remove them in one of your drafts but leave the border or what we call a frame holder so you can see the space required for all pictures.

In short the best method and most economical method of printing drafts is to avoid color, images and those Big Header Headliners.

Hope this helps.
