If you are not familiar with SideWiki by Google here's a short about SideWiki.

SideWiki is a commenting system development by Google that allows visitors of any website to leave comments in a sidebar that is a part of the Google Tool bar.

You will need to setup a Google Account and your profile to manage your comments and to follow other comments made to the same site.

We have listened to several groups regarding the SideWiki Commenting system Google designed.

Some find it non productive while others are working with SideWiki and welcome the comments.

I personally believe with the correct amount of management SideWiki will enhance the users experience at most sites. But with everything good there is a flip side which could lead to wasting webmasters and business owners time.

It will only be a matter of time before SideWiki is flooded by Spam. Google offers a Reporting link which as of this date I have not tried. But if it's like reporting spam in the search engine it will take awhile to have the spam reviewed and removed.

So what makes SideWiki so interesting?

It's really not a Wiki like most of us know. It's a Commenting system that allows a person to publish a comment without being a part of the website.

We allow Forum posts and Article comments and do screen many of them due to the amount of spam.

SideWiki is.. or should I say Was out of reach for us because of the way the system works.
You can pick a front page or a back end page to make your comment. Because of the depth of many sites it is or was impossible to monitor all pages were a SideWiki post may be located.

Working with SideWiki is very simple but Monitoring the comments creates what we are seeing as a full type job and actually a new industry.

Being one of the First Developers to create method of tracking SideWiki comments I have to say I feel better overall about the system.

We are now offering to the online community our application of SideWiki Monitoring.
